"Show Dimmed only" assets ignored (dim mode not working for any watchface)

Neither on the app or in the huawei watch (both fresh installed after an RMA) can I get dim mode to work. All assets and layers marked as "show on dim Only" plainly do not show on any watchface, neither on the watch or the watchmaker phone app itself. Happening on 3.99c premium build.
