Step Count {ssc} not initializing after the reset

The step count {ssc} resets at midnight. Which is fine but it does not start counting until a layer with the {ssc} is visible or a function setting a variable to {ssc} is called.

I have the step count on a secondary screen and it is very annoying to have to open that screen first thing every morning.

Please initialize the step count after resetting it.
