Step count does not work on Gear S3

Using the {ssc} tag results in 0 being displayed for steps on watchface on Gear S3. v4.1 Premium

I have the same problem
Brian, 08.06.2017, 13:15
I have the same problem, too ({ssc} always showing zero), on my Huawei 1 watch.
Brian, 08.06.2017, 14:32
Sorry, I stand corrected: The a step count is being displayed, but it is incorrect. For instance, right now, the watchmaker watch is currently displaying 322 steps, but when I switch to a standard Huawei watch face, it shows 504 steps. I do allow each of them a few seconds to refresh just to make sure, but there is definitely a discrepancy.

AlexCurran, 04.07.2017, 20:24
Please download new version 4.4.1 and use Samsung Health Strategy 2 in WatchMaker (phone) > Settings > Other > Step Count
MarkInMD, 04.07.2017, 22:24
I have version 4.4.1 (2244102) Premium and there is no "Step Count" is not an option under Settings > Other
Vishwasinbox, 13.10.2018, 07:58
You will find that in Settings and then press Watch. However that also doesn't solve the problem.

same issue here S3 with latest update and strategy 2 enabled
Malt09, 04.08.2017, 17:47
Same problem for me. Latest version of software installed on both iPhone and S3 but steps do not work. If this is not resolved soon I will be asking for a refund on the app as it is not fit for purpose. The Samsung watch faces pick up step count do there is no reason why these shouldn't.
Jemo, 08.08.2017, 20:15
I am testing the app and have the same problem. If this will not be fixed, then i will not purchase the app.
Also the battery level of the iPhone will not be displayed.

Limit Infinity, 08.10.2017, 15:35

Gerry Whelan, 01.01.2018, 21:22
Hello, I have an iPhone X connected to a Samsung Gear S3 and the steps count and weather when selecting GPS doesn’t work. Thanks Gerry
Jefri, 11.01.2018, 07:45
Same here on S7 samsung
Jwsail, 15.01.2018, 15:01
Same problem with s7, and Gear Sport all on latest software, and using latest version of Watchmaker
Thomas, 21.01.2018, 17:33
No solution for this problem? (ssc) gives nothing but zero...(Gear S3)
themadmichael, 27.01.2018, 10:45
I have the same problem with gear s3 and both strategys.
Skelliam, 04.02.2018, 20:16
Recent update fixed this for me on Galaxy S3, but now battery life is terrible. 25% used in a few hours.
Ronni, 17.02.2018, 15:51
Hello, since the last update 4.9.0 or 4.9.1 the step counter is not running on the watch. Galaxy S8 and Gear S3. On the S8 the values are displayed correctly, on the watch only wrong ones. I have checked all settings. The right counter on the S8 is SamsHealth on Phone (Strategy 1). Please for verification.

Greetings Ronni

Gear S3 Step Counter only sometimes working. Its very very very annoying.

Where can i get my money back?
Mark Monaco, 15.04.2018, 02:32
Using Gear S3 Frontier and Galaxy S8+ phone, step count will often stop incrementing and will not show the correct value. I have to switch to my step widget just to see what my real steps are. Issue occurs regardless of face being used in WatchMaker Premium. Not happy.
AlexCurran, 16.04.2018, 09:05
Thanks - we will investigate. You also have the option of taking step count from Samsung Health on phone.
Andy, 09.05.2018, 22:32
I too can confirm this is an issue with the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S3 Frontier. The steps in on WatchMaker faces will match the watch steps for a while and then all of the sudden be significantly off.
JJ, 14.06.2018, 17:35
Issue still persists showing a fixed value of "17" for step count on S3 Frontier with Galaxy S7
Eric, 17.07.2018, 01:05
Samsung galaxy note 4 and Samsung gear S3 classic watch. Step count is also inaccurate. Please fix this longstanding issue.
CFo, 17.10.2018, 20:17
This has not changed - still an issue (even though the latest APP update claims that it has improved the step counter).
Using Samsung S3, apps and watch are update to the latest version.
Over a year to fix this - had I known this I wouldn't have purchased the app (trying to get a refund seems impossible as the refund policy is written in what looks Chinese).

Hello same problem why the App author doesn’t reply or fix the bugs?
Jorge.rs, 28.10.2019, 07:59
Maybe the App author is dead. Because 3 years and nothing to say.. Very sad about this.
Aagaard, 06.02.2020, 12:05
Same problem here.. Using {ssc} for stepcount it just shows 0
I have a Gear S3 Frontier an a galaxy S9, all updated to latest versions.
As we can't use this SW without paying for it, I think I'ts not OK that this proble has been there for arround 3 years without any reaction....

So, I have payed for something that doesn't work, fix it or give me my money back....!
AlexCurran, 07.02.2020, 10:13
Tizen apps are either written as native or Javascript. WatchMaker is the former.Native and Javascript have completely different libraries available for developers and they dont return consistent results for step count. I will follow up again with Samsung to see if more can be done but I think it may be a limitation of native (non GWD) apps for now.
Jp, 31.03.2021, 01:17
Has this been fixed? Its the latest version for March 2021 and this is still persisting? Should we write this on the Google and Samsung reviews?
DF, 24.06.2022, 18:14
The Bug still persists
JCDesigns, 22.09.2022, 03:33
I'm having the step issue again. I have went through the steps to correct it but it doesn't work.
watchboi, 02.03.2023, 22:34
Jesus christ how is this still an issue what on earth.

Watch app that has made undoubtedly millions can't track steps?

Even the solution of installing Samsung health on the phone and using that for stepcount does not work correctly but instead pulls up some random number that does not change (not 0, but not what Samsung health reports) wtf?
Mike, 12.05.2023, 18:32
Same issue here now. Have a gen6 watch and Huawei mate 20 pro. Watchface only updates steps when turned off and on again and then the result does not match any step counters I have e.g. Fossils own, Huawei's or googlea. What is going on please?
