time lagging on ambient face

Love the app, but ambient face does not keep good time. The second hand disappears, and the minutes do not update promptly. Sometimes lag over 100 seconds! Waiting to dismiss my students at the end of a lesson, tap it to see the second hand then suddenly realise I'm two minutes late! What use is a watch that doesn't display the correct time?!

I have the same problem
Niklas, 14.03.2022, 19:42
Since switched to Galaxy 4 classic mine is lagging 5-20 minutes on ambient. Also takes 5-10 seconds to wake up. Goes with both my custom and downloaded faces. Never an issue on previous Samsung models. Knowing now it's Wear based which is new.
Daniel, 30.03.2022, 18:39
Noticed the same two things.
I would expect it to update every minute in ambient mode.
Other Samsung watches did it. However, they were Tizen based. But I would hope that Android Weare sends similar events.
Haven't dabbled with it much but coded a lot of Tizen watchfaces myself
Anthony, 09.03.2015, 15:12
Exact same issue. You can make the second hand show by changing the "display" to always. But with that being said, when the face dims out it stops moving. None of the hands move when the display is dimmed
AlexCurran, 09.03.2015, 18:02
This is intentional - ambient mode is designed to save battery and cannot reliably perform any second-based updates.
Marius, 09.03.2015, 19:43
Sometimes it happens even to minute hand and the annoying lag is for more than 2 minutes. If it was intentional, adding an option to disable such 'feature' would be great, because there are people who don't complain about battery life.
Scott-Falk Huehn, 17.03.2015, 20:34
The lag also occurs on simple watch faces, that only displays hours and minutes (analogue or digital). The built-in watch faces on my LG G Watch R doesn't have this lag, the watch faces from "Intellicom Watch Faces for Android Wear" also doesn't have this lag. Watchmaker Premium is the best watch face app for me, but due this lag, I can not give 5 stars.
Terry Fa'iz , 24.03.2015, 15:16
I totally agree. I would like the correct time and accurate second hand in preference to extended battery life. I already get nearly 3 days!
Voynich, 26.03.2015, 18:40
As it doesn't occur on other watches, I think that there is no necessity to preserve battery that much. Paying for watchface that has been designed only to look beautifully and doesn't show correct time, would be mistake.
djoslyn, 29.03.2015, 18:30
Minute display should always be correct, not behind. My watch gets behind by 2 minutes, a lot! Not cool.
BTW: I'm comparing time between my LG G Watch R and a wall clock synced with WWVB NIST time signal.
Rick, 16.04.2015, 22:25
I don't understand, why for developer having good battery life on watch is much more important than displaying correct time. Watches have been invented to show the time to the minute. I can charge my device every night, but want accurate time to be shown on watch!
ajr, 18.04.2015, 16:13
Same problem here. Inaccurate minute display makes watchmaker unusable for me.

But I think there's a misunderstanding here: The battery saving mechanism only disables seconds in dimmed mode - the wrong minutes are a bug.
AlexCurran, 21.04.2015, 12:55
could people here post which watch they see the problem on to help me recreate this as it does not occur on my galaxy gear live for example
Marius, 23.04.2015, 06:36
LG G Watch
gweilo8888, 20.02.2016, 00:26
This bug is still present in the latest paid version of WatchMaker. My watch hands can get many minutes behind the correct time without updating. Reported to the watch developer, and was advised that the "issue you are pointing out is a bug in Watchmaker with on_second script that is used for the hands rotation. I will have to check the impact on the battery if i replace the script by a on_millisecond script".

The watchface I am using is http://watchawear.com/watches/watch-faces/download/2-watch-faces/428-luminox-pilot-professional-analog-digital-5240-space-series.html and my watch is the Huawei Watch.
AlexCurran, 27.04.2015, 20:10
Sounds like an LG Watch issue so far. I will investigate. Anyone seeing this on any other watch?
dk_zohar, 28.04.2015, 04:48
My watch is Sony SmartWatch3. And it has a same problem.
dk_zohar, 28.04.2015, 04:48
A problem similar, in BRIGHT mode, may not be updated in the Second element(like {ds} Text) when there is no layer to be millisecond update the watchface.
Even if the update of the Second element was delayed, at the time of the next update only 1 increase. (For example, 12, 13, 13, 14, 15, 16, ...)
Uli, 30.04.2015, 08:24
I have a Moto360. I am not using ambient mode. Ma problem is, that when the watch awakes from display off to display on, I see the hands jumping to their correct position. Shortly after the display lights up, the hands show the wrong time. Maybe the reason for this is the same bug.
RodrigoAN, 18.06.2015, 17:21
Exactly my problem!!! Love watchmaker but this delay to update time is enough to not use it. I'm pretty sure that it's correlated with time lagging on ambient face.
Chris, 07.05.2015, 09:41
This app is great, but this problem is killing it. I have it at my LG G Watch...
ajr, 13.05.2015, 07:06
I have the latest beta version 3.7.0b3 on my LG G WATCH R and just had this behaviour:
Watch was in ambient mode the whole time
Real time was 8:46 watch showed 8:46
Real time changed to 8:47, watch stayed at 8:46
Real time changed to 8:48, watch changed to 8:47 and 15 seconds later to 8:48
LG G Watch R often shifts the displayed contents by a pixel, when the minute changes, to avoid burn in. I saw that shift, when the real time changed from 8:46 to 8:47 i.e. the watch itself noticed that the time had changed it was just not updated in the face
Adam, 08.06.2015, 16:08
Huge disappointment! Very often watch displays incorrect time, which differs from proper time (about 2 minutes). Hope you'll fix this issue as soon as you can.
ajr, 13.06.2015, 08:23
It looks like this problem is solved in V 3.8.0 :)
ajr, 13.06.2015, 11:45
I was too euphoric - it still skips, minutes in ambient mode, but less frequently than before
Mister-B, 19.06.2015, 11:33
After Update to 3.81 this problmen still occurs. Please fix it.
sam a, 22.06.2015, 16:58
Same issue here
Mark, 11.07.2015, 10:24
I have a a Moto 360. Love the Watchmaker faces but the way the hands jump (sometimes in several stages) to the correct time after waking the watch up is a bit of a deal breaker. The stock Motorola faces do not have this problem, neither do other faces I have found on the Play store. Since it happens on every Watchmaker face i'm assuming this is an issue with the Watchmaker app rather than the way people are coding their faces. Please fix!
Awi, 24.08.2015, 11:28
Further to add to this, the online/offline icon is not updated when the states changes in any of the directions.
Xer0w, 19.09.2015, 15:10
Same issue on LG Watch Urbane. When the display dims the watch face freezes with the seconds hand stuck (although does jerk into action randomly -yes when dimmed )
Stock faces work fine when dimmed. And keep time (when dimmed)
The lg manual says this is how it should work, so the watchmaker implementation is not coded properly.
Wish I'd tried this or before buying. Afraid it's unusable for me.
GSlayerBrian, 06.10.2015, 04:33
Just wanted to report I'm having this issue as well with my LG G Watch. WatchMaker Premium v3.9.3
thomas, 05.12.2015, 23:59
I have a problem with the battery level. I know that in dimmed mode the watch face will update only once per minute. But the battery level will be not updated. It`s freezed until I wake up the watch again. Any ideas ? Or is it a bug ?

thanks
Frank , 17.01.2016, 03:10
Bug is still there almost a year later. Deal breaker for me. Wish I would have noticed this 6 hours ago when I could have easily refunded through the play store. Now requesting it from the creator. Fix this bug and I'll be back for sure.
Komi, 02.02.2016, 13:20
Same problem with my lg watch urbane! It not happen with other programs... !
Brian, 03.02.2016, 00:26
Same with my sony sw3. Very anoying vannot trust tje displayed time!
Erwin, 11.02.2016, 17:21
Same problem here with Moto 360 2gen
Jerry , 17.03.2016, 01:48
Gear live here and same problem. Time is delayed almost 3 minutes, not good at all.
Aaron, 08.04.2016, 20:25
Same issue here - screen dims and time stops! Huawei Watch. App is unusable :(
Chris, 28.09.2016, 09:48
Issue:
1,Minutes on display in Dim mode lags behind correct time, by up to 90 seconds.
2,Minutes on display only keep correct time in active mode or not dim mode.
3,When time is lagging behind, waking watch suddenly jumps to correct time.
4,Occasionally the watch will update the minutes twice in 15 seconds when it catches up.

Note this behaviour is present in more than one face. I have tried the built in "Steel Blue" face and it exhibits the same lagging behind.

I have tried creating a simple "Hours and Minutes" only face and this lags behind. THERE ARE NO SECONDS feature enabled or animations to confuse it.

Other Moto watch faces all work correctly all the time

A WATCH SHOULD BE ABLE TO TELL THE TIME, ACCURATELY, FAILING TO DO THIS MAKES ANY WATCH, NOT A PROPER WATCH AND THIS APP EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING.
Mo, 30.09.2016, 07:22
This thread is very old but doesn't seem like a resolution for this issue is in place (am surprised!!!).

Recently purchased a Huawei watch and also purchased Watchmaker Premium. Some of the watch faces available are excellent but the lag is unacceptable.

I would not use a watch face if it only looks attractive and lags in displaying accurate time. Charging a watch is not an issue.

I'm not sure if the issue lies with Android Wear's resource management in ambient mode or something that Watchmaker developers need to resolve but it would be good to see such beautiful watch faces function as real watches and don't just remain wallpapers.
Colin, 01.01.2017, 21:44
I received an LG Urbane for Christmas and the watch faces I've developed myself with Watchmaker are exhibiting this issue. I've never seen this on my Sony Smartwatch 3 previously. I'm surprised this is still an issue after all this time. Still Googling for a resolution.
Tom, 10.02.2017, 23:39
Same problem with my lg watch urbane
Jonathan Jones, 26.02.2017, 15:34
I've been using the Tizen version of the app with a Gear S3, and although the time appears to be only behind by a second, the ambient display freezes and doesn't change the time. This issue is clearly something that everyone needs a fix for.
Jappie, 18.05.2017, 16:08
Add "Text Effects" and the lag goes can go up to 6 minutes!!
And "Text Effects" do not even render in dim!!
Markus Schyska, 05.07.2017, 10:38
This thread is more than 2 years old. It's an WatchMaker issue, other faces don't show this behaviour.

I love WatchMaker and spend a lot of time creating my own watch. My ambient screen shows current time delays up to 30 minutes. Non WatchMaker faces don't show this bug on my Moto 360 2.Gen.

@ANDROIDSLIDE: Why don't you even answer to this thread neither fix this knock out bug?
AlexCurran, 05.07.2017, 10:39
Apologies it is a bug with 4.4.1 - fix in 4.4.2 later today
GumbyX, 05.07.2017, 10:41
Having the same issue on my ZenWatch 2. Only just noticed it. ATM the time is 06:40 but my watch shows 6:36. I'm using a watchface with a digital clock.
AlexCurran, 05.07.2017, 15:39
fixed in 4.4.2
Brian B, 05.07.2017, 23:17
This is not fixed. It is 1816 hrs and my watch in ambient mode shows it is 1755 hrs. Is there any advice? The mine hand does not move.
Tim Barnhart, 06.07.2017, 00:31
Thank you Alex for addressing this issue of ambient time not updating. I LOVE WatchMaker and have tons of fun with it.
Etan Berman, 06.07.2017, 01:06
I love the app and all the faces I use were made using it. The ambient time is still not updating.
Etan, 06.07.2017, 05:28
Fixed, thank you!
Markus Schyska, 06.07.2017, 06:14
Not fixed here. Still up to 20 minutes delay on ambient screen. Moto 360-2.
AlexCurran, 06.07.2017, 06:17
Can you please check your version number on the watch is the latest. It should say either :
4.4.1 (2244201)
or
4.4.1 (2544201)

Please ignore the 4.4.1 - it was a bug - the correct version number is the 442 inside the bracket.
Markus Schyska, 06.07.2017, 06:23
Version 4.41, 2544102 on watch. Can I push the update on the watch manually?
AlexCurran, 06.07.2017, 06:24
Yes - hit resync from the Android Wear app
Markus Schyska, 06.07.2017, 06:38
Did so and restarted watch. 2544102 stays on watch
Maurice OT, 06.07.2017, 06:59
I have the latest version 4.4.1 (2244201), but since 2 days now, my watch doesn't update at all in dimmed mode. Using a Smartwatch 3.
Does not matter what face I'm using, they all suffer from the same issue.
Markus Schyska, 06.07.2017, 07:02
Restarted phone (Huawei P8) as well. No WatchMaker update on watch.
Markus Schyska, 06.07.2017, 08:54
Now watch updated to 2544201. Looking forward.
Markus Schyska, 06.07.2017, 10:06
Seems to work. Delay 1-2 minutes. That's ok for me. Thanks a lot.
Lutz Caesar, 06.07.2017, 14:40
I have the same problem
AlexCurran, 06.07.2017, 14:41
Fixed in 4.4.3 - make sure your watch has updated
Art, 11.07.2017, 09:34
Digital watchfaces still freeze in DIM mode after update to 4.4.3 on both devices. Analog faces all OK. Watch model is LG Watch Urbane.
knty, 16.07.2017, 18:00
i have gear s3 . have lag. When the screen closes/off, the time freezes. It shows up correctly after it is turned on.
Raymond, 24.07.2017, 19:16
Still have the time lag in dim even after the latest update. Love the app but have had to use others a a watch that does not tell the correct time is no good. Please fix ASAP.
Kiter1, 05.09.2017, 07:15
I have a time lag issue as well on my Gear S2 with digital watch face. When I open the watch face by the the gesture of my arm it displays the old time for a second and then it updates to the correct time. Very annoying
Seishi, 07.09.2017, 01:08
Also having this issue as well on the Huawei watch (gen 1). Delay of 1 -2 minutes. Kinda bearable but would be great if it was fixed.
Jappie, 02.12.2017, 15:15
By now we have v4.6.6 but Huawei Watch v1 on wear v2 still has up to 5 minutes delay on analog minute hand with text-effect. :-(
Jappie, 20.12.2017, 07:15
WM3.6.9 Done! Delete please!
Frazee, 23.01.2018, 01:25
Minute hand in dim mode, Gear S3, lags by up to 1/2 hour.
Emre, 11.02.2018, 19:35

DAn, 28.03.2018, 20:13
I have the same issue with the Huawei Watch 2 running the latest updates. It seems to only be related to this app, other faces dont have any trouble keeping time.
Gregory Pilkington, 29.04.2018, 00:06
Dim mode lag at several hours.
Mark, 27.09.2018, 06:19
This bug appears and is fixed just to reappear a couple of versions later. It's incredible annoying!
This first and important thing a watch should be able to do is to display the correct time!
Fix this and keep it fixed!
Electuk, 26.09.2019, 10:40
No longer keeping time in ambient mode thought it was something I had done spent ages going through my settings couldn't find anything very disappointing a previous bug has been reintroduced. Ruins a great app. Please fix soonest
CGK, 28.09.2019, 21:14
I have the Hauwei watch (1). Same issue as above, ambient screen no longer updates time. (Still love the app, assuming of course this gets fixed...I know it will).
Dan, 10.11.2019, 02:22
This is still an issue for me on Huawei watch 2. Almost 5 years now?
Robert Nicolella, 27.12.2019, 09:46
same thing Lemfo Lem 8 lags 2 min behind on ambient time
Jim Coleman, 09.11.2020, 12:37
I'm still getting this problem, often the minute hand in ambient mode lags behind real time by 2 minutes, occasionally almost 3, then when it does finally update it often jumps twice
steveq, 19.12.2021, 12:26
I'm getting bad lag on Samsung Watch 4 when the screen goes dim. It seems the time stops completely because I will sit with it awake for a while and the time never corrects. App is really unusable like this. I have to switch the watch face and then back to what I want to use to fix the time. Very annoying. All my other face apps work fine. Disappointing.
Dirk Flechsig, 11.02.2022, 04:53
Yesterday I received the major update to OneUI 4.0 for my Galaxy Watch 4 Classic. Until then, watchmaker was running without any problems. Since this update, watchmaker is stuck in AOD mode. When my Samsung GW4C switches to AOD mode, the minute hand keeps running for a minute or two and then freezes. If I don't look at the display for a long time and activate it at some point, it can happen that the minute hand jumps 30 minutes ahead. The funny thing is that the second hand doesn't start up right after activating the display. A few seconds pass. Has anyone of you also received the big update, installed watchmaker as a watchface and possibly had the same problem as me? I'm assuming it's a watchmaker problem because the stock watchfaces work fine. Without any delay.
Isparmo, 11.02.2022, 14:33
Same problem in Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 after the latest update (10 Feb 2022)
Thunderburg, 13.02.2022, 15:32
I have the same problem since the last Update with my galaxy watch 4...
nick, 16.02.2022, 06:41
Same here, watch 4 classic, I'm on beta.
fer27, 25.02.2022, 04:50
Problem since updated on newest Galaxy Watch4 Version.
I expect that problem to be solved, because this is essential. Sometime it doesnt update for 5 minutes in ambient mode.

To be solved quickly otherwise I order back my money!!!
Köteles Ferenc , 18.03.2022, 14:46
Hello,
